Registration of birth certificates of children (age 0 to 2 years) born in the United States to Haitian parents, and ensuring their registration.
Celebration of a marriage between two Haitians, and preparation of the marriage certificate.
Preparation of all necessary legal papers required for American funeral parlors concerning people who are to be buried in Haiti, including embalming documentation.
Legalization of documents for foreigners traveling to Haiti and authentication of Haitian documents for foreigners.
Furnishing all legal information concerning Haitian or American laws (immigration, marriage, divorce, adoption, etc) and referring those concerned to the proper specialists.
Providing assistance to Haitians about to be deported. Preparation of all land documentation and papers requested by Homeland Security (Immigration Service).
Preparation of all consular letters or other documents together with letters of authorization for the transport of domestic animals, such as dogs and cats, to Haiti .
Registration and delivery of the certificates and summons received from judicial authorities.
Recording and deliverance of certificates received from the Haitian judicial bureau and helping to obtain extracts from documents in the National Archives, such as birth, marriage and death certificates.
A certificate can only be obtained if the person making the request is physically present at the Consulate with identification such as a valid passport (Haitian, American or other). Instead of a passport, a certificate of naturalization is also acceptable.
If the person making the request is the holder of a foreign passport, he or she must make the request with a letter of intent (in French or English, preferably in French). The letter must be signed, notarized and certified by the County Clerk or the Secretary of State of New York State or New Jersey .
Our Service can only legalize original documents. Such original documents must have been approved by the legal department of the ministry in question and be certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before submission to the Consulate office.
